Jess Scranton About
Jess studied photography and international affairs and received a B.A. from Northeastern University. After graduation she saved her money and then moved to India where she photographed women empowerment organizations in the deserts of Rajasthan. This experience changed her life and sent her on a new trajectory towards becoming a freelance photographer. She realized photography was a tool she could use to express her love for humanity, her passion for travel and for people.
She has spent the last 12 years photographing everything from commissioned portraits, international campaigns, travel assignments, corporate responsibility projects, USAID funded initiatives, domestic editorial features to lifestyle campaign work. She enjoys building libraries of content, produced lifestyles campaigns and in depth documentaries for her clients. She can work with creative teams to develop images that work for their campaigns or photograph solo in the field, depending on her clients needs.
Her ability to connect quickly with subjects, put them at ease and bring out their very best nature drives her images. As a result clients receive work that tell a compelling story, are positive in nature, help garner support and improve their visual brand.
Her work for foundations, corporations, NGO's and travel companies has taken her to locations with unstable political situations and off the grid places. Her adaptability, good nature and ability to coordinate logistics allows her to operate while working deep in the jungles of Indonesia, a war torn country like DRC or on a campaign shoot in the United States.
In her spare time, she likes to hang out with her seven nieces and nephews. She loves to flower farm, hike and write. She is slowly writing her first novel about marigolds.
Jess is based in Boston, MA and works domestically and internationally.
